On Line Web Training Classes

Environment, General No Comments »

One of the first things any web designer needs to realize is how to create a good website.

There are so many things to learn and many times it is tough to finding a good class. Well, I just took a class at Broward College Online.

Did I need to take a class? Not really, but I feel it is necessary to keep learning about web design. I just completed a terrific class – Introduction to CSS and XHTML. Even though I was familiar with a good deal of the material, It was a great review and I picked up a a few great techniques.

The class was taught by Alan Simpson – an award-winning author of over 100 computer books published in many languages throughout the world. Alan’s books and courses have been praised for his crystal-clear, friendly writing style. Alan has taught for the California State University and the University of California, has earned a Master’s Degree, and holds Security+ certification.

To learn more about the class visit:

Intermediate CSS and XHTML

The best part of taking a class on line – are the hours and the discussion boards. Take a class when you have the time and talk about issues and debate coding techniques on line. The professor is great at answering questions and finding problems with your code.

Enjoy.

Safari 4 Beta – Apple’s Web browser for the PC

General No Comments »

by Daniel Ionescu – pcworld.com

Apple’s Safari 4 brings a lot of new features: full history search, a smart address field, and full-page zoom, to name a few. Your browsing history is now brought to life with Cover Flow, so you can flick through your recently visited Web pages like you do with your album art in iTunes. I really like the new version of Safari. It definitely feels faster–an improvement that alone should give headaches to Microsoft and Mozilla. Add in the other nifty features and eye-candy Safari 4 brings, like Cover Flow, and this browser should give them plenty to think about.

File Size: 26,074KB
Price: Free
Operating Systems: Windows XP, Vista

This Week’s Top 10 Spyware Threats

This Week’s Top 10 Spyware Threats

Coming in at number 8 this week is C2.Lop. You may ask yourself, what’s a lop and well I will tell you. Lop stands for “Live Online Portal” and is a group of spyware and hijacker programs that set your Internet Explorer start page and search features to use the site lop.com or one of its clone sites. Lop.com is a web site owned by C2 Media. It is mainly a pay-per-click search portal where other web sites pay for each click-through to their site via lop.

Lop.com created a program which is labeled variously as an mp3 search program, a porn search program, or some other such thing. The installer turns the user’s web browser into a device with a seemingly endless supply of links to lop.com. A later version (installer name mp3serch.exe) omits this desktop feature as its bugginess reportedly led to its being discontinued. Both versions install a stripped down browser which uses the Internet Explorer web browser engine.

This browser automatically launches at mp3search.com. The Lop installer also makes dramatic changes to Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Netscape Navigator. The default search engine pages, toolbar settings, and start p age are changed. The lop installer adds scores of Internet shortcuts in Internet Explorer’s Favorites folder and in Mozilla’s Bookmarks.htm file. Lop’s are not fun, don’t even be tempted!
